Welcome to Wellbeing

About the Wellbeing Zone and what we do

The Students' Union believes that your wellbeing is central to your student experience and we are committed to providing services, campaigns and activities which improve the physical, spiritual, mental and environmental wellbeing of our individual members and the student community as a whole. Through this work we aim to empower you to get the very best out of your student experience.

How do we support your wellbeing?

We need to know what is wrong in order to put things right. By listening to and representing you we can work to bring about changes that will improve things for you - our student experience forums are one of the ways that you can tell us your views.  We will run campaigns about the issues that matter to you or which affect your wellbeing, and you can get involved yourself through the many volunteering opportunities available in the Wellbeing Zone. The Wellbeing Buddies scheme is just one of these, where trained students support and mentor other students are struggling with university life. We also have a CaSH Action Team dedicated to helping you look after your sexual health. Giving you the opportunity to get involved is one of the best ways that we support your wellbeing as being involved helps you to play a valuable part in your student community and develop transferable skills in the process.

How to get involved

There are seven different ways of getting involved in the Wellbeing Zone:

1. As a peer2pier volunteer helping to deliver wellbeing campaigns

2. As a CaSH Action Team volunteer promoting sexual health and chlamydia screening

3. As a Wellbeing Buddy supporting and mentoring other students

4. As a Convenor, representing the views and interests of other students

5. By attending a Student Experience Forum or Wellbeing Zone committee (see timetable) to share your views

6. By running your own wellbeing campaign, event or project through the Wishing Well

7. By running for election to become Vice President Wellbeing 2012/13 ! (Elections in March 2012)

We look forward to meeting you over the next year - have a great time!
