Hey everyone, my name is Jamie Stratton and I am running for the position of NUS Conference Delegate. For the past two years , I have been the Vice President Student Activities, representing Brighton Students views and interests on social activities , such as sports teams, societies and organising events such as the Grad ball, and the last two Freshers Weeks.
If you elect me for the role of NUS Conference Delegate, then I will be able to take the skills that I have learned , and represent you on a national level. I was elected to go to Conference last year, so I am experienced into what to expect from conference.
In the past two years, as well as my role at Brighton Student Union, I have been representing students views on a national level. I have been the South East Student Chair for BUCS, and I am also one of a handful of student officers that sit on the NUS Student Activities Working Group.
So I definitely have the experience to go and represent you, but I also have the knowledge of the key issues that will be debated at national level , such as Fighting our Future , with the issue of raising the cap on tuition fees being high on the agenda. As well as that, there will be definite motions for the increase of support for student activities and a debate on initiations. These are key issues that will affect all students at Brighton, and will have a knock on effect on your university lives and those of future university students.
I have the knowledge, I have the experience and I also have the skills. I have been able to represent the best interests of Brighton Students over the past two years at the highest level, and when it comes to conference floor, I will be able to represent your views on the national stage.
