FREE EDUCATION FOR ALL! Education Not for Sale! "Laura is exactly the militant, anti-capitalist feminist breath of fresh air the Free Education Campaign needs. If you want a campaign that mobilises hundreds of students to fight for their liberation and rights, elect her." - Sofie Buckland, NUS Block of 12, NEC 2006-8
My record:
I've been an anti-capitalist, feminist, LGBT and student activist since I was 15. I'm currently a second year Photography student based at Grand Parade; I was previously a student union activist at Park Lane College, in Leeds, where I was elected women's officer 2006-8. I received an 'Outstanding achievement' award and was voted 'Most committed executive member’ during my time there. I also helped to organise the 2008 Feminist Fightback conference and the 25 February 2009 National Demonstration for Free Education.
Fight For Free Education!
The battle against fees is not over, once again the government wants to raise the cap and charge us more and more for education - a basic human right. Elect me and I'll put free education campaigning at the forefront of my work, supporting and helping to organise mass direct action to tell the government and university bosses that education is a right, not privilege.
I'm part of Education Not for Sale, a network of socialist, anarchist and other anti-capitalist students which focuses on campaigning for free education, living grants and against the marketisation of our education system. You can read more about us here:
