Payment non-payment of fees

All students are liable for fees for tuition; most UK undergraduate students are entitled to a tuition fee loan through their Local Authority which is repayable following graduation. If your fees are met by your Local Authority, the Student Loan Company or a sponsor please ensure that the finance department have their details so that they can contact them directly.

If you are unable to meet your tuition fees for whatever reason it is important that you discuss the matter with the finance office as a matter of urgency. If the University are alerted to difficulties they are less likely to begin debt recovery action and restrict access to University services, including enrolment to the next stage of a course or withholding of an award. It is worth contacting the Academic Advocacy Service or Student Services Advice Centre for assistance with negotiating repayments or other sources of financial help.

If you are unhappy with the quality of your course please contact the Academic Advocacy Service for advice on the complaints procedure as withholding fees is not an acceptable course of action. If you are in debt for accommodation or other non-course related fees contact the Academic Advocacy Service.
