Union Review
Creating the modern day union for the modern day student
An e-questionnaire will be sent to you on 23 February 2009 regarding this topic.
Notes from the Open Meeting held on 22 January are available to view here
With only 20% of students polled believing they can participate in Union decision making when they want to, how would you hold UBSU to account if we made a decision you weren’t happy about?
UBSU has a Constitution, which is essentially a book of rules that have to be followed, and that’s what we are reviewing over this academic year. It is crucial that when it is rewritten you, as a student of the University of Brighton, feel able to hold us responsible and liable for our decisions and actions and that’s why we are trying to make these processes as accessible as possible.
We have been out talking to students regarding accountability, and we are trying to find out how you would want to make sure your voice got heard if there is something you are not happy about. Say for instance the Union got rid of all the society support, or academic support or even just banned chips in the café – how would you want to go about getting these decisions changed?
We want you to tell us when we do something you don’t like!
Then what you would like us to do about it!
You can contribute via text on 07985 773653, attending the Open Meeting or answering the e-questionnaire which you will receive on 23 February 2009.
