Academic Zone
Advocacy, Course Reps, Academic Campaigns, Research

We are a community of learners, regardless of our level, previous experience or motivation. Whether we’re here for an FDa or a PHd , full time, part time, 18 or 80 we’re all here to study. In fact, that’s our defining feature. The Academic Zone of Brighton SU exists to make sure the views of students, specifically as learners, are actively listened to and acted upon to inform developments in the University and ensure the SU is working and winning for Brighton students.

This isn’t just about passing comment or filling out feedback sheets, although that is part of it. It’s more to do with reflecting on our experiences and maintaining a conversation that shapes the today and tomorrow of the University of Brighton.
We work with the Schools to provide training, support and resources for Course Reps. We work regionally and nationally to secure a better deal for students. We say when things should be better; we reward success when things go well. We also provide advice and support to hundreds of students every year through our professional advocacy service.

If you’d like to get involved with our work, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you want to be a Course Rep, School Rep, attend our Talking about Learning seminars, or even run for sabbatical office, there are opportunities for everyone help make sure our work is informed by the lived experiences of students.
